Is the status stuck up at 15% for a long time ? It is not moving from this status over many days. Is it that they are updating once in a while ? Or is it that the project is not moving forward ?

Hi V.S.S.SARMA,
The FightAIDS@Home website is only updated at long intervals. Statistics - By Projects - FightAIDS@Home gives some data, but does not give any idea of percent completed. The real unknown is the number of 'Top Hits' selected to be run against the Mutant HIV Protease Panel of 270 Protease varieties. Still, the really interesting information will be the number of compunds that show some possible effectiveness against HIV. So far Scripps reports that one was found in the 1,900 compounds inthe NCI Diversity Set, though the indications were that it would also bind to too many other proteins (meaning toxic side effects). Hi Wood chopper,
However I think your expression "grabbed" is a somewhat strong. Not only in the meaning that you cannot "grab" what is published, but that they actually had talked to Flemming about it so he knew that his work would be followed up at Oxford. I think that my expression 'grabbed' sounds too violent to you. He certainly DID encourage people to investigate his discovery. It took a vast amount of work, easily overlooked, to turn the discovery into a life-saving medicine. That is all that I meant. Lawrence |

Right! "Grab" Means to me 1)usually, take fast and hard and then, 2) take against the will of the owner(practically, steal) and since it was not a physical object I put the last meaning into it, however, English isn't my mother tongue.

Does this still correlate well with Larry Fine's prediction of late August/early September end date? (see earlier in post)

Hi kohutw,
The progress chart at FightAIDS@Home was reported to be updated to 15% on 15 June 2006 and to 30% on 11 July 2006. At this rate we still have some months to go to complete Phase 2. And remember, part of Phase 2 is selecting 'Top Hits' from the 500,000 compunds in the Chembridge set to run against the 270 varieties in the Mutant HIV Protease Panel in Phase 3. We have every expectation that we will recruit many more members to help speed up this project. Lawrence |

If you go here: http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/images/anims/ You'll see that they are using a pie chart for each percentage. Thus, to answer your questions - no and no.
