If processing becomes longer and more sluggish on its own and the computer has been running for several/many days, a simple reboot/restart can often speed things up.

Ignorant me, but is there not somewhere warning that overclocking could cause hickups in the processing i.e. generate WU's with errors
----------------------------------------![]() BTW, software that instructs the CPU to ONLY give up to 30% OVERALL (by default) is the strangest one I've heard. UD Agent has a throttle, which variant you have to set manually, but that one is limited to the specific application, i.e. if utilisation gets e.g. over 95%, UD slows down. Never too old to learn (yet) ![]()

Yes, overclocking can cause WUs with errors but not necessarily. I test my overclocked machines thoroughly before putting them into service. Then I watch my logs and results reports closely to see if there are errors.
The 3 overclocked computers I have crunching have produced 0 errors so far. One of them is an old 800 MHz P3 Celeron which now runs at 1.1 MHz, 37% overclock. I had it up to 1.2 MHz but it was not stable so I cut it back to 1.1. |
