Click on 'Become a Member' and you go to the Join Now page ( http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/viewJoinNow.do ) where all you have to do click on 'Download Linux'. You can read about the startup script here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=boinc
If anything is not clear, just ask here. Lawrence |

Hello,
Do you have ssh/telnet access to this computer? You will need your login/pass for this. So login first, if you need an ssh client, you can download putty from here for windows... (http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe). Now the rest of this is going to assume you can log into the server via telnet or ssh. These are the direct commands you'll need to type in with only one insert of your account key (<KEY> in the commands below). Goto http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProfile.do?regBoinc=true to get your account key. $> wget http://einstein.aset.psu.edu/download/boinc/d...2.13_windows_intelx86.exe $> chmod +x boinc_5.2.13_windows_intelx86.exe $> ./boinc_5.2.13_windows_intelx86.exe $> cd BOINC $> nohup ./boinc -attach_project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org <KEY> & your boinc program should be working. -Uplinger |

You.... words fail me.
I suggest you learn how to use a command line! Surely a web host does nothing else but CLI? |

Please tell me you're joking.
Seriously now - I have seen enough of the web hosting business to know that technical skills are indispensible. You're asking for help with the Linux client, so clearly you're not an IIS host. A quick Google reveals you run Apache and only offer 3 nines uptime. Dude, I wouldn't host my grandmother's homepage on your servers. I'm not kidding. And your site map link is broken. |

If you arent okay with up to 9 hours of downtime ayear then i guess it isn't a good idea considering all of that downtime was scheduled.
----------------------------------------Also the main reason why i don't know command line that well is because i hire techs to do it. Some host owners know all the technical some don't in my case I don't need to. [Edit 2 times, last edit by TM_Hosting at May 10, 2006 1:16:57 AM] |
