AIDS project is working on my computer. There is an icon on the right side bottom portion indicating that the programme is running. When I try to open it, it seeks Log in name and Password. Can we avoid it ? It is a waste of time to type the log in name and password. In case one wants to post some comments, Log in can be there but not otherwise.

Hello V.S.S.SARMA,
When I first started on the World Community Grid, I used the client icon to access the web site, but I have long since added the WCG to my list of Favorites on my web browser, and use that instead. When you sign on to 'My Grid', you can change your device profile. This is kept under password control so that people cannot walk up to your computer and change the profile without you realizing it. But - - - due to popular demand, we have recently added an auto-logon feature to the website. If you check the box on the website while logging in, you will get a persistent token that can log you in automatically. It eventually times out and it is removed if you ever click on 'sign out'. (Logon does not work during the statistics updates - an irritating 'feature'.) You can always go directly to the forum without signing in, using your web browser, and read posts as a 'guest'. For that matter, you can use the Firefox browser and enable its auto-logon for the WCG site. So the default is secure password access to the WCG site, but there are several ways around this if the security gets in your way. Lawrence |

Yes, I noticed the password autocomplete works in Firefox. However, in IE, there is some badly designed javascript on the login page breaking the autocomplete functionality. It's irritating, is what it is. Still, the persistent cookie makes life less complicated.
