Anyone knows what this is about? BOINC profile allots 7GB. Disks have plenty space and utilization of Virtual Memory is below 277mb, allowed to grow to 1.5gb (pagefile). Memory usage per BOINC for the faah unit 92mb. I've had this now twice in the last few days, this one 8 hours into the calculation. Notably, when shutting down BOINC, the WCG faah Docking unit refuses to close and remains in memory???????05/02/06 09:54:56|World Community Grid|Aborting task faah0450_d014cb082_x1hpv_00_2: exceeded disk limit: 50529836.000000 > 50000000.000000 05/02/06 09:54:56|World Community Grid|Unrecoverable error for result faah0450_d014cb082_x1hpv_00_2 (Maximum disk usage exceeded) thanks

Interesting.
*does a little research* Seems this error means that the result files for this work unit grew beyond 50MB. If this was normal, then the grid techs will have to resend these work units with a larger disk space allowance. However, the fact that you say it's not shutting down properly does indicate that either the work units are corrupt, or your installation is broken. If it happens again, I advise you to reset the project. |

The shutdown problem is resolved.....there's an option not to retain a process in memory when suspended. Disable that and snow meets sun.

there's an option not to retain a process in memory when suspended. Disable that and snow meets sun. Can you tell me where that option is? I hope you don't mean the "Leave applications in memory while preempted" option in BOINC cause that doesn't seem to do the job... I have the process WCGrid_AutoDock.exe running and it's the biggest process in my memory :( |

Mine is set to swap applications out of memory, and I'm not having any problems. It happens when an application is suspended or another application takes over as the active application due to process sharing requirements.
----------------------------------------The master BOINC profile also contains a spot to enter the maximum disk drive size. It depends on how many days of data you've asked for (another parameter), and how many projects you have going. Some of the climate prediction projects have a huge disk requirement. One work unit here for that is about 500 Mb.
