(Things are getting desperate now!) Slug The Lazy Slug ... Greetings GP, Jan and V-R! Jan, yes we did have power outages here. I had *no* power or DSL for about 8 1/2 hours; 8:15am to 3:45pm. I feel like I am repeating myself. We had another great day of crunching. Latest stats: 10/26/2006 Total Run Time (Rank) 29:299:05:50:43 (#168) Points Generated (Rank) 11,175,569 (#111) Results Returned (Rank) 43,754 (#109) Daily Team Stats from last refresh: Total Run Time --- Points Generated --- Results Returned 0:071:19:45:12 --- 105,282 --- 469 WTG, Team Mates! It is *really* tough to get pie on this Team. LOL! |

I have definitely slowed down production because of electricity costs. My 2 main rigs will run about 8-12 hours per night, depending. By doing that, and also going into the cooler season, our electric bill went from $715 to $260. I only have 2 rigs which are online full time, and both are slower Intels (Netburst stuff). My laptop runs as much as it can (at work, at night at home), and it's a decent Pentium M 2.0GHz box. SIPS power... 24W out of the wall socket at full load. My 2.9GHz 165 Opteron drains 215W in comparison. And my dual 2.7GHz LV Xeons drains about the same as the Opty rig. So if I get more laptops, I could be crunching a whole lot more without the bill getting hit so hard.
If we get Pocket PCs crunching.... man oh man. I have about 50 of them Dell x50s at my disposal at work. They just sit, and sit, and sit... waiting for new sales reps that we are not going to hire. |

I have about 50 of them Dell x50s at my disposal at work. That's got to be equivilent to a twin quad core xeon rig sitting there doing nothing Even my HTC Hermes has more processing power than my old Pentium II laptop. Just thing of the benifits.... No hard disk - just RAM Minimal power consumption Likely to be on 24/7 This has got to be a winner !!!! Don't forget a Symbian version either ! (They've still got 80-ish percent of the mobile phone market) (Ooooh errrrr. Don't forget the 'm' if you're Googling that! )JM - Hmmmmm, pie is tasting goooooood today! I heard y'all had whipped cream over here. ![]() GP, we sure do. We are *so* close to passing our friendly rival who had some fun when they passed us by. LOL! I am hoping that we can return the favor. HomeBrewers: 11,592,243 Team Andrax: 11,368,768 The yorkster has decided to help out our friends at Team Seychelles (The Coconauts for a spell). That's fine. I just hope we can pass the HomeBrewers soon. That would be a nice spanking. Holy cow, you have REALLY picked up your daily production, and for the past week you have managed to exceed HomeBrewers by an average of about 25,300 points per day. At that rate, you will pass us in just 9 days. Well, at least there should be room in the Top-100 for both of our teams by the HomeBrewers 1st birthday. So you probably won't get to spoil that for us. Congratulations on your crunching. While I'm here, let me ask you and your team and visitors what you think of my Project 2plus2is4. PLEASE take a look if you haven't already. I'm actually more concerned with promoting that project than anything else here. Cheers. Bill Velek |
