How long've we been doing a century per day?
It's always weird looking at the combined stats, because of the strong weekly cycle. My team sometimes shows a weekly cycle, but oddly it's not linked to the weekend. |

Hi D
----------------------------------------The last time we did less than a century a day was the 1st Jan 2006 The first time we did more than a century was the 28th November 2005 The 4th Quarter is always a good one as the America's are wide awake and crunching away Fingers crossed for a greater than 140 year day Historically Tuesday is usually the best day of the week (my gut feel anyway) Don't ask me why this should be it's just one of those weird facts of life 140 years in a day would mean that the equivalent of 51,100 PC's (Averaging around the 2800+ mark) have been running all day today. Thats a serious amount of number crunching going on - LOL By my reckoning about 154TFlops of raw number crunching potential all freely given to this great project during each second of today Thanks Folks from one small spot on the South Coast of England. I just noticed we are now doing more work per day than grid.org which I think is quite an achievement, although that seems to be as much due to their amount decreasing as to ours increasing. They only managed 121 years yesterday.

----------------------------------------You're right we are not doing too badly The grid.org crew are also working on the HPF project so that's 259 years of crunching being done in one day! Grid.org is where I cut my teeth doing useful number crunching for the benefit of Mankind. I confess I also have 111 days to my name looking for ET but one of my buddies told me about the Cancer Research Program they were doing over there and I figured that might be slightly more useful (note the great understatement there ).I hope only good things come as a result of our efforts at the WCG and over at Grid.org and indeed on a number of other Grid initatives around the globe. Unfortunately there are only so many PC's to go around (and good hearted folk like yourself to point them in this direction). But there are still plenty of CPU's out there twiddling their thumbs and sitting chilly under the force of their fans. So there's plenty more still to recruit. Keep 'em crunching Dave ![]() |
