Download speeds

Whats up with the download speeds?

I have been downloading my recent chunk for almost an hour now and have 128508 bytes down. Seeing as I have cable modem with average downloads of around 200kb/ps this chunk should have been able to download in about 2 seconds not 8 hours. How do I get peices faster?

This is kinda frustrating.

Re: Download speeds

Go to www.dslreports.com and verify your true download speeds. Cable modem systems are shared by others in your neighborhood and can serious impact your downloads. The DSL report site should give a good end to end test during the peak times that you are having problems with.
You may be surprised how slow the speed is at certain times of the day.
If you do have good speeds that there may be a line problem with you ISP dur to dropped traffic at a router link somewhere....
The link is http://www.dslreports.com/stest.

Re: Download speeds

2004-11-26 20:34:59 EST: 2403 / 349
Your download speed : 2461304 bps, or 2403 kbps.
A 300.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 357885 bps, or 349 kbps.

I did several peices just fine and the problems only started yesterday. I have not been able to successfuly download a peice in 2 days, kinda bringing my score down abit. Would say it could be my router but for the fact that it worked fine at first.

Re: Download speeds

Ok still need an answer. I am going on 2 days without a result, my download test speeds are posted above, there is no way that it's my connection. If I don't get a response soon I'm gone, I have 2 computers that were generating 800 points per day till I suddenly lost the ability to connect to the server, it says I'm connecting downloads at 2800baud modem rates for a couple hours then times out and tries again. please help.

cool Re: Download speeds

TaoWarrior, if you can surf the web at normal speeds, then the error has to be at the other end. Something has gone wrong there and it is not guaranteed that you can correct it from your end. Have you considered acquiring a new name? Just uninstall and join up under an alias that the server does not have a grudge against? I know it sounds like giving up but it just might work. Best of luck!!
