Yes, price is not cheap, but benefits are tremendous. And not only to US, but to the whole world community. And in reality resources like oil have nothing to do with this war. US would be much better financialy just buying it from Saddam. It actually contributed to raise in gasoline and other petrolium products cost.

Hello! I've been away for a while and just thought I'd drop in on the Forums to see what's what. So, the war's going well is it? Just how does that happen? This thread's title really caught my eye, I can tell you! I think most combat zones have a lot in common; and the one where I was, back in the late '60s, supposedly was a haven of bliss — according to whichever federal administration was in office at the time. (There were two of them during my tour of duty in the Republic of Viet Nam.) By all means, let's tout those politicians who've never been to war themselves but who can't say enough good things about armed conflict.

I'm thinking all wars are one giant load of fecal matter. for those people who end up in proximity to such human endeavors. Visit your nearest veterans' hospital and see what you think. Naturally, those who don't end up in a combat zone during a war would doubtless have a different perspective. Well, I'll be moving along now. It's good to see the drums drumming and sabers rattling here on the Home Front — not! For those with no first-hand experience in such matters as active-duty military service in a combat zone, check out Lewis Milestone's 1930 film All Quiet On the Western Front and pay close attention to the character Paul Bäumer's home-coming speech at his old school. You're a Jew and offer Hitler a rose in 1939. He would blast a whole in your chest and plant his garden right there. Then again he was a sweetie next to Stalin or a vast litany of recent African warlords.

Better yet, let us offer the olive branch of peace to the legions of Muslim extremists whose world vision is the complete annihilation of the decadent Western civilization along with every infidel who inhabit it.

War may not be a good solution. But is is often the only reasonable and humane alternative to even worse carnage.
