Question: why Task Run Time lost after restart?

My task had been running for 29 hours+ and progress for 1.7% only. In fact it was at 1.7% in the first hour and did not progress any further after another 29 hours. The graphs were moving and I supposed it's running.

Anyhow, I suspected something might have gone wrong, so I exited the task and restarted properlly, then the Task Run Time became only 44 minutes while the progress still at 1.7%. The task continues to run and progress to 2.5% after another 50 minutes and so on...

Just curious where had the 29 hours gone after the restart?

Re: Question: why Task Run Time lost after restart?

It sounds as though something went wrong on your computer (slipped a bit or something) after you wrote the check point at 1.7%. So the program never converged to a solution and therefore never wrote another check point. If it happens again, you might want to check out the diagnostic programs mentioned in the 'Useful Utilities' thread at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490

Hopefully it was just an accident caused by a cosmic ray. biggrin
