Re: Global Statistics

Yes, you are right. And what I find is that many of them have not reported in several thousand hours, some well over 10,000 hours. One person has not made a single return but has been a member of the team for over a year. I don't think it is right to consider them a member of the team or a contributer to WCG.
i agree. i feel if someone has not returned a result within 30 days their machine should not be counted as active either.

Re: Global Statistics

2 things:

1) We have begun sending out email to members who have not returned a result in the last 60 days. Hopefully this will encourage/remind some of those who are no longer crunching to come back.

2) We plan on revising the stats views to reflect output for the last day, last 30 days, and all time when we update the stats pages later this year. We know this is of concern to some members and believe we have a solution that should address it.

Re: Global Statistics

I think reminder emails and continued follow-up with those who haven't reported results is a good first step. It is great to see numbers increase but if the attrition rate is equal to the rate of enrollment, we need to make an effort on retention as well as recruitment. Thanks for the update!

It would be great if there were some way to deal with names that stop producing for 30 days or more as it tends to mislead newbies when they look at a team roster and see fifty names yet only 25 are actively producing.

I'd just as soon see those names automatically deleted but then I guess the next logical question would be what happens to their points and results?

I've always felt points and results should stay with the team where they were originally crunched.

Rather than showing people as retired perhaps those who leave or quit producing could be automatically put into a separate team category called "past contributors" or something along that line.

Re: Global Statistice

They are shown as "retired" if they have switched to another team. I'm afraid yours must have just lost interest.

Not necessarily I know of a number who stop at one team and join up at another under a new username often simply because they don't know how to do a changeover so they just remain in the team listings as if they are active yet they aren't.

FWIW I think the emails are a great idea but another thing I've heard from some that tends to put them off somewhat is the way this board keeps making you sign in over and over again.

Surely there must be a way around that annoyance (or is something being overlooked on my part?) as I frequent five forums regularly myself and this is the only place where I keep having to sign in.

Sometimes it's the small things that keep members happy. wink

My 'to-do' for the next update (a couple to three weeks out) is to add a checkbox to the sign in screen that will allow you to stay permanently signed in if you wish. This has been requested by members and will also solve the forum sign in problem.

Re: Global Statistics

I think that if a member isn't producing say 6 months out, and they don't come back after an email reminder then delete there account from the WCG. Then if they do come back after that then they will need to resign up.
Any points they have made for there team when they first registered should stay with that team.
If they want to stay interested in the WCG all they have to do is join us on the forums where they can meet a whole bunch of new people from around the world. There is a lot of intresting people here on the WCG if they just stop in and say hi. Not only will they build new friendships, but will also see many of the milestones that the WCG has accomplished over the last 18 months.

Re: Global Statistics

Points earned for a team always stay with that team. We will consider removing inactive members from teams after being inactive for six months.

Our recent mailing to inactive members had good results and lots of inactives are now active again.

One thing we're finding is that people do not understand the re-registration process. When they get a new PC, they often will start a new member name, thus the old one becomes inactive, rendering the overall statistics as being overstated. We refer to the member or device counts as "registered" members or devices.

We are looking into doing a better job of reporting these numbers so as not to be misleading.

Re: Global Statistics

Just FYI... I just went through the statistics for my team and find:

31 all time members
2 retired
29 "active" members

Of those who are being reported as active:
7 members have not returned results in over 10,000 hours
7 members have not returned results in over 5,000 hours
1 members joined on 12/02/2004 and has not returned a single result

There did appear to be a spike in returns about two weeks ago which may be the result of the reminder emails being sent. However, this past week it has returned to "pre-email" number of returns.
