Anyone here care to answer this email from McAfee anti-virus?

i advised them that their 'on-access' virus scanning process named 'mcshield.exe' was activated while WCG is running.

the process takes up to 27% of CPU power but should only apply to downloading or internet surfing, not while a WCG unit is being crunched.

i hope someone who knows more than i do about WCG can inform them better. on the other hand maybe this is not a big problem? it may be common among America-Online (AOL) users.

here it is:

"I would like to thank you for contacting McAfee. I have received your
email and created case 008232.

Please accept McAfee's sincerest apologies for any trouble your are
experiencing. I understand that mcsheild.exe is utilizing too much
cpu.
I am not sure why this is. I am a member of an escalated customer
assistance team. I am not a technician.

Is this software on your company's computers? If so do you have a grant
number, or is this software on your residential computer? I would like
to be able to assist you, but I am not able to locate any information
on
in our residential or corporate databases. If you would be kind enough
to advise me, and I will be happy to try and assist you. I am available
Monday thru Friday, 7-4 CST.

Sincerely,

Re: letter

this guy is trying to determine if you have a legal copy of McAfee. Also he is trying to determine which support team will handle this (home users or corporate/industrial).

Most viruses we get at work .... come from home computers. The division seems marketing oriented, but is entirely too artificial to actually control a virus infestation.

Re: letter

well i tried again but i cannot get past low level tech support.

i think only a programmer would know why their scanning is activated by wcg crunching.
