No antivirus/firewall enabled. I use a proxy server but that's not the problem since I have a linux machine that works through it. here are the messages.

Hi racycarp,
Is this a new installation that has never worked before? If it has worked, then I would wait awhile and see if another reconnection attempt succeeds. mycrofth |

New installation. Had UD agent running on it. WINXP SP2.
----------------------------------------I run boinc for mostly Rosetta and grab occasional work from other projects. I would like to run WCG specific disease related projects too. I ran Anthrax many moons ago. Boinc agents and UD agents don't play nice sometimes. The other Boinc agents tend to not let UD agents get any processor time. Rosetta seems to share the CPU nicely but the others don't [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 14, 2006 7:18:01 PM] |

Hello racycarp,
I suppose the next thing is to confirm that you installed the latest BOINC 5.2.13 client and used http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProfile.do?regBoinc=true to get the following info: BOINC Account Key: BOINC Project URL: www.worldcommunitygrid.org BOINC Account Number: BOINC Cross-Project Id: Sorry I am asking such elementary questions, but I am clueless. mycrofth |

Yep, I even tried another XP Machine. Beginning to think it is a combination of XP/Proxy/WCG. Using all the Boinc info you mentioned and my account key. I may have to go put my laptop on the other side of the Firewall to see if I can get XP To work and verify it still works on the Linux client.

Definately works on a linux machine throught the proxy server. Not a firewall/proxy problem. Looking more like WindowsXP + Proxy issue

On the windows machine, can you go into your boinc directory through Command Prompt (usually C:/Program Files/BOINC/) and type in boinccmd.exe --get_proxy_settings.
Then on your Linux machine go to your BOINC directory using a terminal and type in ./boinc_cmd --get_proxy_settings These should match each other if you state that linux works and windows doesn't through the proxy. -U |
