I am just trying to make sure I understand it.
So in Linux, there is the client and the manager, run separately. However, in Windows the client and the manager are the same piece of software, and if I exit the manager (so that it doesnt even show up as an icon in the task bar), the client is stopped also and no processing is going on the background? |

You should be able to click the "x" in the top right corner of the program in windows and it'll send BOINC down the to the task bar in the bottom right of your screen. Then to pull up the manager again, just double click the icon (should be a blue "B").
Hope this helps, -U |

The BOINC manager and daemon are seperate under windows too. However the recommended install type runs the manager which then starts the daemon. I personally recomend the service install type. That way the daemon will run whenever the computer is on even if no one is logged in.
