UserFriendly recruits so fast we can't keep the stats current. Good for you and WCG I think it's time for our 200 member handicap now. but bad for the other four teams. ![]() ![]()

Oh, you poor things. Maybe the next competition will be skewed more in your favour (or at least be fairer).
May I ask what you're doing to recruit? |

... May I ask what you're doing to recruit? Speaking for myself and my recruitment efforts for HomeBrewers, we don't try to seriously recruit anyone except homebrewers; now, what I mean by "seriously" is that we primarily target homebrewers through homebrewing forums, although I will certainly ask friends and acquantances to visit my website which promotes WCG, and I still use my signature file in non-brewing forums, too. Here is my personal webpage which I ask people to visit -- http://home.alltel.net/billvelek/world-community-page.html -- and I use the following signature lines in my emails and messages that I post in different forums (mostly in beer brewing forums) to invite them to visit: Cheers, Bill Velek Join "HomeBrewers" international grid-computing team and help mankind by donating spare computer power for medical research such as cancer; we're in the top 8%, and we beat the MillerTime team: http://tinyurl.com/b7ofs The life that your computer can help save ... might be someone you love. Notice that I mention the MillerTime team; when we were chasing them, I was asking fellow brewers to help us beat them ... since many homebrewers hold a certain amount of disdain for many 'sissy' beers like Bud, Miller, Coors, etc. Anyway, I have posted two different threads in most brewing forums; the first when I just started our team the end of November, and the other the beginning of February with the start of our recruitment contest. In most forums there were no posted responses, either positively or negatively; in several forums there was some discussion with a positive outcome; and in a very few forums, there was outright hostility accusing me of spamming (I will not be reposting to those, and in fact no longer participate there, either; they can bite my azz). In any event, I don't plan to repost a thread specifically about this subject for at least a few months, so until then my recruitment will rely solely upon my signature lines. When I post in non-brewing forums, I usually shorten my sig a bit by deleting the reference to our beating the MillerTime team.Cheers. Bill Velek |

I wrote another letter to our sponsor asking for some recognition. All they know about is Vulture Central I and Vulture Central II and their link goes there. I'm keeping the team active in the threads by posting some statistics. We have several silent members that don't say much. I keep an active team page link in my SIG. I have rejiggered my statistics box to make it a bit different. I have a Vulture team thread at the dczone forum. I even post here in THIS thread. I have a page on my own website. fingerle has a page of vulture teams. That's about all we can do here by forum rules. Nothing much is happening except to User Friendly.

Keep poking your sponsor. El Reg, isn't it? They've been going down hill of late, in my oh so humble opinion. Almost a parody of themselves :-S

HomeBrewers picked up one more ... finally ..., and UserFriendly picked up their usual several dozen (dadgum hogs)
..., so these are the latest:BitBenderTech (BBT): started 2/2 with 36 current members = (39-36)/(19-2)/36= 0.0049 HomeBrewers (HB): started 2/2 with 33 current members = (42-33)/(19-2)/33= 0.0160 SuperBytesBelgium (SBB): started 2/8 with 61 current members = (66-61)/(19-8)/61= 0.0075 UserFriendly (UF): started 2/1 with 160 current members = (274-160)/(19-1)/160= 0.0396 VultureCentralIII (VC3): started 2/7 with 23 current members = (23-23)/(19-7)/23= 0.0000 UserFriendly is now the 23rd largest team, with more members than team Russia -- and they did it in just 87 days. Congratulations <sigh> AGAIN! Cheers. Bill Velek |

:-D
We're crunching in the top ten, now. Top 100 on points, and contributing over 0.6% of the WCG total. |

Hey, hey, HEY!!!
The HomeBrewers are rallying now (picked up two more), and are finally gaining on User Friendly The last stats gave HomeBrewers a score of .0160 and User Friendly a score of .0396 -- now increased for HB and decreased for UF . Now we have ...BitBenderTech (BBT): started 2/2 with 36 current members = (39-36)/(21-2)/36= 0.0044 HomeBrewers (HB): started 2/2 with 33 current members = (44-33)/(21-2)/33= 0.0175 SuperBytesBelgium (SBB): started 2/8 with 61 current members = (66-61)/(21-8)/61= 0.0063 UserFriendly (UF): started 2/1 with 160 current members = (278-160)/(21-1)/160= 0.0369 VultureCentralIII (VC3): started 2/7 with 23 current members = (23-23)/(21-7)/23= 0.0000 And don't think that it has gone unnoticed that UF just joined DC-Vault and jumped all the way to 63rd place, bumping HomeBrewers and MOT down a spot. Grrrrrr. Our new goal here is to be sure you don't beat us two to one in this contest. Of course, the other teams are doing miserably. Cheers. Bill Velek |
