Try the following if you are still having problems.
----------------------------------------You may still be processing a WU that admin have found is defective as it resides in your comp. While the agent is running go to the task manager and end the task WCGrid_Rosetta.exe. The agent will automatically stop processing the current WU, will then send the work on the current WU to the server AND credit you for the processing time AND download an update AND assign you a WU that actually works. I have noticed that the agent update has also increased processing efficiency... my old 1.3Ghz Athlon with 256 MB RAM and a more complicated protein (usually 20hrs to process - now 9hrs) is outpacing my 1.7Ghz PM 1GB RAM laptop that is working on a smaller protein. I think admin have done a great job to get this back up and running. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 23, 2004 4:36:44 AM] |

Bio--
Where is 'Task Manager'? Is that what it's called? I can't locate it. Simple instructions would be welcome. Thanks! |

My apologies.
----------------------------------------This can only be done with WinXP / 2000... Press Ctrl-Alt-Del In Win XP task manager will automatically appear In Win 2000 select 'Task Manager' Select the 'Processes' tab Highlight the 'WCGrid_Rosetta.exe' process Click 'End Task' Close the Task Manager and the WCG agent should say it is processing and sending info to the server. You will see a slight increase in points and then a substantial download that updates the agent. Hope this helps... ![]() Any problems or other queries just post as Jayne has... If we can all help eachother, the grid will run as efficiently as it possibly can. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 23, 2004 5:16:10 AM] |

in older versions of windows ctrl-alt-del is sufficient to stop the rosetta.exe
----------------------------------------it has no processes tab but you can kill the rosetta there will do the same [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 23, 2004 5:34:03 AM] |

That's interesting. What you said worked, but... it still says my agent version is 3.0. Curious why this would be the case if it downloaded an update. Or perhaps the update wasn't in the agent itself but in the proteins being issued for us to work on. Thus it could have been a sort of "drop your crappy work units off here and pick up a good one" deal.

Good tip Bio - too bad I saw it too late, and already uninstalled and reinstalled my client, which seems to have worked, but doesn't give me credit for all the time I wasted restarted WUs.
----------------------------------------Oh well - onward and upwards from here! Thanks to the admins for fixing! |

ok...what if there is no WCGrid_Rosetta.exe process? I looked and I don't have the process running. Is that a problem?
