On a fully patched W2K Pro box running as a restricted user, after a few units the screen saver stops powering off the monitor after the set 10 minite time. I can add admin rights to the user, reset the screen saver, remove admin rights, and it will work for a few more units and then go back to not powering off the monitor. The agent is set to run only as a screen saver. Any ideas?

Hi corblack,
What sort of rights does the users have on the Program Files\World Community Grid folder? If the agent is still working, as a possible workaround, give the user permissions to change MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg and change the monitor power off settings in Control panel > Power settings. (I'm going to guess that power settings and screen saver will kick in at the same time.) |

First I tried changing the file permissions, but that did not work. Tonight I made the registry change to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE MICROSOFT WINDOWS CURRENT VERSION CONTROLS FOLDER POWER CFG And that has worked twice so far tonight. Thanks for the help. |
