Re: Im still fairly new at this, but love it!

Howdy VAIO GRX616,

I understand about the wee bairns, and the well kept secret that they do have 'some' good points...as a young divorcee I am in the enviable position of only having to brave the battlefield one week out of two so I get a week to recover and remember how lovely they can be (other than when they are sleeping!)

I have an AMD processor 2600, 1.6ghz running XP pro and am about to get 2x 900mhz with ethernet 100 connections which will be running XP pro 32Bit, and they will probably all be in the same room, except possibly for one which I may put in my (newly adolescent crying ) daughters room, depending on how loud she cries for it! I can put them all in the same room if they need to be.

How do I have them all crunching at the same time while on dial-up and not networked?

Thank-you for your help and interest. I am interested in any info as I am flying blind in this area. I have lots of questions but I think your next post may answer them so I will wait... smile

Howdy Katie biggrin

Divorcee? Not sure whether I should congratulate you or commiserate with you confused I hope your divorce wasn't too unpleasant.

I assume all machines have a modem? If so then each machine can dial-up and return its own WU's. Simple if they are all next or near to a 'phone socket.

You say 900MHz running XP - how much RAM in these machines? You will need at least 256MB for XP.

If you want to have the machines separated but still networked you will either need to run cables between rooms or go wireless. I would suggest the latter. I would also suggest considering broadband if it is available to you. I got this a couple of years ago and would not go back to dial-up.

And please introduce yourself at our forum - we don't bite wink

You sent a PM to me but I think you were trying to post your message so everyone could read it. So come back and say Hi again!
