Thanks for the call for patience. We apologize for the frustration that you are experiencing. We found out about this problem yesterday and jumped right on it. The team is working on the problem and hopes to have a resolution soon.

I have been browsing through the forums today and it has become abundantly clear that there is a lot of pent up frustration on the part of the people donating their resources to this project. A number of which appear to be ready to pull the plug as they believe that their efforts are going awry. If the Admin does not start corresponding with these well meaning individuals soon , I am afraid that not getting an answer to the reason why donators are getting so many aborted work units could seriously damage the effectiveness of this project. I am sure that there are a lot of experienced users donating time to this project that understand the inherant problems that a project of this size can cause, but for rookies it is a lot more difficult to continue without answers. I feel u must give priority to users questions to ensure continued dedication to this excellent project I am sure your attention to these problems will be very much appreciated by all participants and put a lot of peoples minds at rest The more comments to this post, the effective it will be Thank you in advance for your comments Graham [Team Europe} The problems have now been sorted out 117 bad work units were discovered and have now been removed so its back to crunching good work units and getting credit for them Great work from the Development Team Thanks from Graham |

Wotcha all.
I found that the resets tended to occur when the screen saver kicked off. I stopped the screensaver option and all has been well since. However, I also reinstalled so maybe that was it <shrugs>. My work PC got its version installed after the agent fix, and is running much faster (data numbers update 3 per second instead of 1 per second). Same version as my laptop though: 3.0, build 2842. Maybe the lappy is just sluggish with cheap RAM or something. Either way, both machines are chugging along nicely now. 14.6% and 7.6%, which is an improvement on 1.3% and then resetting .Looking forward to getting my first result uploaded before the weekend! Heheh. Cheers Bennett |

I was just on my home page and it says it has been 61 hours since my machine returned a result. I don't understand.
My machine has been on 24/7 since I signed up for this gig. My points haven't gone up, my projects returned haven't gone up (seems stuck at 3) and yet I see the screen saver at 98%, at 50%, at 2%, at all sorts of different %'s over the last few days. What's going on? Can someone please "splain"? Thanks, clyde |

The problems have now been sorted out 117 bad work units were discovered and have now been removed so its back to crunching good work units and getting credit for them Great work from the Development Team Thanks from Graham unfortunately, not for me, graham. i'm still getting aborts after many hours of work and about 2% done and no credits in my favour anywhere (of course, i'm doing this for the good of the project, not for the credits ;-). i joined up on nov 22nd at 7.30 am (GMT+1), has the agent been updated since then? should i delete all wcg programs/files and do a new download? should i disable my screen saver? i am very patient and willing to give this work all the time it requires, however, seeing that the problem has been identified, i'd be grateful from some simple, straightforward tech advice valid as of nov 22nd. thanks so much, bonnie |

Apparently it is normal for a Work Unit to end unexpectedly after much time and little progress due to non-convergence. His post seems to assume that points are awarded even in this case, which has not been my own experience. His very last post was made just minutes after this post. So maybe he is working on this bug and not communicating? While non-convergant work units are normal, we did identify a bug where the completed work you have done is not getting sent back to the server, and thus no points are being awarded. I have fixed the problem and it is now being tested. See the updated post in the Known Issues thread. Thanks for your patience.

Today i lost another work unit, it took some very long 23 hours (!) to 16% on my 2000+ device. (Somewhat normal, because the first work unit took about 35 hours or so) Ok, maybe this protein isn't foldable any more but i become somewhat disapointed about that project. Not to mention the 3-5 workunits which run the last 3 days and also aborted. Just wasted time (?). My client shows me 1452 points, but only 852 on the website. that device which generated the addiontal ponits o reach 1452 (From 82 up zo that). sent it's results and is currently working on a new WU. During that time the other device aborted and updated the points an CPU time, but they don't appear on the results page. it's more than 24 hours beyond so i think the statistics should list it.
I am thinking about deinstalling the client on all 4 devices. the CPU'S all calculate the hell out of there silicon, and no points, wrong statistic, and no feedback at all from the program. Was is a program failiure (?) or just a unfoldable protein, do the results take there way to the project. I wonder why that abborted (unfoldable) protein don'T generate points !? I spend CPU time. If i spend the next 2 weeks with aborted WU, it simply frustrating as simply as it is. That grid thing looked fazinating at me, but becomes more an more a waste of time and nerves. SO PLEASE FIX THAT SOFTWARE !! |
