Since the debut of FAAH I have heard little from the scientists conducting the project. It would be nice to get an update on how far along the project is, any new developments within the project since it started and perhaps any molecules that have been processed that might be worth further study.

Hi Larry Fine,
I'll give you my personal guess. We began running the new AutoDock 4.0 in November 2005 on a large number of different classes of chemical compounds, testing them against different HIV varieties. As a result of all the data we have returned, we are working on an update to AutoDock which we are trying to validate and deploy this month. My guess is that Scripps will want to check the results from the new version of AutoDock before they start posting much about the project. In short, I think that the usual rush to make a 'deliverable' (a new version of a program) is taking up a lot of their time. mycrofth |

Thanks. Since a great many people are donating their computer time it would nice for the FAAH scientists to give us donors some regular feedback on the progress of the project. For me, it would be nice to know what this project has accomplished and what is left to accomplish. Over 4,000 years of processing has happened so some progress on the FAAH project must have already been made. Also, regular updates can be useful is helping to recruit new computer donors.

I was asking the same in this post. You can find some answer posted by the author of AutoDock :)

Thanks. I have seen that thread. The last post from the FAAH project scientist dates back about a month ago when the project was just over two weeks old. I was just wondering what has been happening since then.

Best thing is that they can update us through the web site itself. On the home page, there can be an Icon to signify "STATUS" and if we click, we can see the status at any point of time in a dynamic way.

We are pleased to announce that we have posted the first volume of “FightAIDS@Home News” on the www.FightAIDS@Home.org web site. To summarise, we have completed more than a quadrillion energy evaluations of candidate-drug/HIV protease complexes, which is half-way point in the current stage in the screening. We encourage you to read volume 1 either online or by downloading the PDF. The links are:
----------------------------------------Web page: http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/news/vol1.html PDF: http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/news/vol1.pdf (4.6 MB) We have also added an icon on the home page of FightAIDS@Home that shows the status of the current stage of the project as a pie chart. Thanks for your help so far: we are getting mind-boggling amounts of results at this end, and are beginning to put the pieces of the jig-saw puzzle together. When we know more, we will release a new issue of “FightAIDS@Home News”. Prof. Arthur J. Olson Dr. Garrett M.
