Running Proteome_folding

The window says that the primary task is executing and I saw it download but nothing is happening, still on 0% after 12 hours.
I tried uninstalling and re downloading the program but it didn't help, still got the same problem (seems to be frozen).
What should I do??

Hello Leslee Russell,
Are you running UD or BOINC? What security software do you have on your system? What does Task Manager say is the utilization figure?

Sorry you have totally lost me. what is UD/BOINC and where do I find the Task Manager utilization figure?
The only part I understood was the security software which is Panda Platinum 2006
Thanks for the prompt reply though.

There are 2 programm that can partecipate to this project, UD (the programm called World Community Grid Agent) and BOINC, another programm, the site is http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ , so, what programm are you using?^^

You can see Task Manager by pressing ctrl+alt+canc

Re: Running Proteome_folding

Ok now I understand
I'm with World community grid agent
at the moment the CPU usage is 5-10%
normally when it's working it uses 90-100%

Re: Running Proteome_folding

Leslee --

The applications we are running under the UD Agent are the Human Proteome Folding application (WCGrid_Rosetta.exe) and FightingAIDS@HOME (WCGrid_Docking.exe). Each of these applications is set to run at the priority of the idle task, or, in other words, they will get processor cycles only when no other task needs them. Usually this will mean that they will get between 90 and 100 % because the work we run on our systems usually does not require that much processing power. If you are seeing the CPU utilization down in the 5-10 % range, something else is running away with your system. You can look through the list on Task Manager to see what it might be. Often, spyware will be found to be the culprit. You may wish to clean the spyware off of your system using one of the anti-spyware programs listed in the FAQ Useful Utilities.

If cleaning the spyware off your system does not work for you, what processes do you see using a lot of CPU cycles? Perhaps we can identify what the problem is through that.

Best regards,

Re: Running Proteome_folding

Hello Leslee Russell,
Panda Antivirus causes the WCG UD agent to pause before executing. Here is the list of antivirus problems: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1804#10050

Here is a post about Panda (without listing a solution): http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1410#6900

And here is a quote from that post, still relevant today:
Does anybody know of a way to tell this program how to ignore World Community Grid programs?
