Hi All!
I use the windows boinc 5.2.13. The stdoutdae.txt says: "2006-01-05 00:50:51 [World Community Grid] Result ed785_43_3 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 2006-01-05 00:50:51 [World Community Grid] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 2006-01-05 00:50:51 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: process exited 2006-01-05 00:50:51 [World Community Grid] Temporarily failed upload of ed785_3C_1_0: timeout 2006-01-05 00:50:51 [World Community Grid] Backing off 1 minutes and 27 seconds on upload of file ed785_3C_1_0 2006-01-05 00:50:51 [World Community Grid] Restarting result ed785_43_3 using rosetta version 422 2006-01-05 00:52:19 [World Community Grid] Started upload of ed785_3C_1_0 Do you have any idea what to do with this? The 1st line which is bothering me. Boinc was working for a while but one day appeared that line exit with zero status but no finished file. So i reinstalled the boinc software but got the same error. Then I installed the UD client. I've been collecting less points with ud than with boinc. So i decided to reinstall boinc. I've cleared from registry every boinc record and then reinstalled it in that hope it will work. But i get the same error exited with zero status. When i'm displayed this error i dont get any points. I was asking team members whether they have the same problem, but nobody has. All day today i havent got a single point. What am i supposed to do? Has anybody ever met this problem? Gabor Kovacs |

You've run across a very specific case of a non-convergant workunit. In this case, the workunit failed to converge before even a single structure was completed. This is fine. The problem though, is that since a structure had not been completed, no 'finish' file had yet been written. When Rosetta exited normally, BOINC attempted to send the 'finish' file back..but there was no result file...thus the BOINC send error.
----------------------------------------I'll be making a change so that there is at least something for BOINC to send back so the BOINC error does not occur. BOINC shouldn't be stuck sending a file that doesn't exist. If it is, it's a bug in BOINC and we'll have to get that fixed. What version of BOINC are you running? If BOINC is stuck and forever trying to send this non-existent file, my recommendation would be to: * Stop BOINC * erase the BOINC slot directories * erase the contents of the [BOINC]\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org directory * restart BOINC.

Hi I am running 5.2.13_i686_pc_linux_gnu and keep getting these errors (even after I did what is mentioned above). After I reset the project it works for s while and then gets itself stuck after about a day. Any suggestions? Thanks Will |

It just shows that the app didn't exit in quite the way the the BOINC client expected. The client will get things straightend out on its own. There is no reason to reset the project or reinstall the client in most cases. The most common cause is that the system time clock or one of BOINC's internal timers skipped a beat. Check the wiki for more details. |

I believe I will see that first line when restarting BOINC after my machine has gone into hibernation mode with BOINC running. In my case, BOINC keeps on processing the WU.

When in hibernation mode BOINC's internal timers can not run. So you will normally see this message when coming out.
There have been many reported problems with BOINC erroring out work after going into hibernation or standby mode. If possible you may want to disable this option in your power saving set up. |

Wow, I guess I should go buy some lottery tickets ![]() ![]() ![]() It may also be that my info is outdated. I noticed some fixes concerning hibernation just when into the BOINC source in the past few days (will be in 5.4.x clients). I could have easily missed earlier fixes since I do not use these functions at all. And it definately is not still the every time problem it was in the past. |
