Hy every body.
----------------------------------------First of all, happy new year. The problem : everybody is not logged on to Internet permanently. If a process is finished, the program has to wait to send the result to grid server et receive the next set of data before working again. A little suggestion. Is it possible to receive a new set of data before the current one is being processed or may be it would be a good idea that the program ask for a new set of data when it has processed 50, 60 or 70% of the previeus one ? So that, if we are not logged on to Internet when a result is ok, the program can continue with the next one even if the result is not sent yet. It can send it as soon as it detect a connexion. It is also true when there is a problem with the grid server. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by boulmontjj at Jan 5, 2006 10:40:20 AM] |

That sounds like a job for UDMonitor, a third party product that will manage multiple cache slots. I can run several workunits in sequence and logon to the internet and sent them in one after the other at the same time.
----------------------------------------I have two setups on fast AMD computers with 30 slots each, enough for about 5 days of work. That means that I can also be processing workunits if the WCG servers are down for some reason. Each slot is a different device name. http://udmon.sourceforge.net/ The documentation is written for grid.org. There is only one small difference in function. When starting UDMonitor, a WCG bat file found in the UDMonitor directory must be used. Search threads for UDMonitor or UD Monitor. There is also extensive information about it in member-to-member support on the http://grid.org forum. If you are running with BOINC, that has a workunit queuing ability on its own without using UDMonitor.

Thanks retsof,
----------------------------------------It looks like what i was looking for but as i am french, i will take enough time to read and understand everything for installation before testing it as i would not have a big sh.. that would prevent me to continu to process for WCG. If it is ok, i will indicate this tool in my team and explane how to install it and use it in french. This could help them too. Thanks again and sorry for my poor english. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by boulmontjj at Jan 5, 2006 10:38:35 AM] |
