It has been so long that I have forgotten the alphabetic designator that the Army used for LSD. I believe it began with a B. They had an interesting article about war gases in ?Popular Science? back around 1959. The LSD was intended to be used as a non-lethal disorienting gas. Others in this class induced nausea, diarrhea, etc. The general problem with non-lethal gases is that they tended to be least effective against young, healthy soldiers and most effective against the very young and the elderly. There was a lot of experimentation in the early 1950's to determine effective dosages. The plan for their use that was finally given to Pres. Eisenhower (recently declassified) said that few enemy soldiers would die directly from non-lethal gases in effective dosages in a mass attack, but thousands of civilians in the same area would. Since the main reason for non-lethal gases was public relations, to defeat the enemy while killing only a small percentage of his forces, the lesson drawn was that it would be best to stick to conventional high explosive artillery.

Seriously, CaptainZen, my being a citizen of this wonderous free-market society has exposed me to many, uh, "alternative interpretations of reality". Lawyers get a bad rap here in the USA because there seem to be so many that do not have morals. It amazes me how a person getting hurt on your property while trying to commit a crime against you can win a lawsuit for damages.

There are crazier examples than that. The point being - take things with a grain of salt and investigate on your own.

The internet does not help. Many sites appear to be legit when it fact they are not. This can lead to much confusion.

Patents are another good laugh. A patent has been published for "the process of relaying a story having a unique plot." I do not believe it has been granted - yet. Here is the application. I am glad that *most* of the world is not recognizing software patents, I just wish the USA would go that route. Probably will not happen since so many lawyers and so many companies will no longer make money for nothing.

I personally do not believe there is a known cure for AIDS and it is being kept under wraps. Too much money could be made from it. People will still die from something else.

The most feasible explaination I have heard about the origin of AIDS was that the forerunner to the W.H.O. gave Africans polio shots in the 1950's in an effort to relieve suffering from that disease. Unfortunately it was made from monkey serum tainted with the virus. I don't know if it is true but it makes more sense that all the alien and cloak & dagger tales I keep hearing.
