I don't care WHAT team you're on ... the "HomeBrewers" team is going to show you how it's done. Most of you have had a huge head-start, and you shamelessly recruit from within the WCG, but we will STILL kick your butts by recruiting OUTSIDE WCG.
----------------------------------------Well, heck yes, I've had a couple of home-brews; two of my son's are playing in a nightclub tonight. Got to go now. Bill Velek -- This post has been edited for profanity - nelsoc [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 29, 2005 1:53:11 PM] |

Hi Bill
----------------------------------------I'm sorry but you've broken numerous forum rules by this one post. Please have a read here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=forum#17 Have a think about what you really need to say and edit this post later Thanks Sam [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 29, 2005 3:45:40 PM] |

Hi halfcard,
----------------------------------------Bill made a good-humored, good-natured funny post. But it does go past the kid-friendly limits the rules set (think of the Little League rule of conduct). So, nothing personal about the reproof. mycrofth [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 29, 2005 2:32:40 PM] |

we must respect the moderaters here.
----------------------------------------but by freak coincidence, i was going to point to little leaguers and their parents, in the opposite direction! such language is certainly normal to them ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 4, 2006 2:32:13 PM] |

snip ...we will STILL kick your butts by recruiting OUTSIDE WCG. Well, heck yes, I've had a couple of home-brews ... snip This post has been edited for profanity - nelsoc Samuel Clemens indicated that I have broken "numerous" rules in that one post. I have now carefully re-read the rules and the only one that I think I _might_ have broken is the "kid friendly" rule. My language was certainly not obscene or hate-filled, did not denigrate or "flame" anyone, and is hardly considered "profane" by today's standards. For future reference, could you or someone else please list my violations? Anyway, I regret that I have tarnished the image of HomeBrewers by using, in someone's opinion, crude language. But just to set the record straight (now that my words have been changed), I'm sure I didn't use any really hard or vulgar language like FxCK, or SHxT, or BxSTxRD, or GxD DxMN, because that would be completely out of character for me, even when I've had a few homebrews. What I think I no doubt used was AxS in place of BUTT and HxLL in place of HECK. Must of have been something I picked up during my years in prison ministry (yes, I am a devout, practicing Christian ... but drinking homebrews is okay for me because I'm Catholic ![]() Cheers. Bill Velek -- Bill - I appreciate your post, but I'm arfaid we can't start selectively editing posts or people will be pushing the limits faster than I can type. So, I've edited this post according to the guidelines which have been clearly demonstrated by example. - nelsoc [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 30, 2005 1:50:42 PM] |

Now that the grammar has been sorted.......let's see what you got ![]() Just wait until my "HomeBrewers" TV commercial is aired during the SuperBowl, and THEN we'll see how fast we catch up to everyone else! We'll show you, alright. Seriously, I am disappointed that we haven't been able to recruit more members than we have so far. I had actually hoped to have a team of at least 50 members by the end of the year, but have failed miserably. I imagine there are tens of thousands of homebrewers on the Internet, and I also imagine that the vast majority of them are not involved in grid-computing in any form. Those are the people we should be targeting, which is why I chided folks for recruiting from within WCG. Of course, I assume that most teams have members who are also trying to recruit fresh blood outside our forums, too, but from my personal experience and very disappointing results, I strongly suspect that the largest teams have grown to their sizes primarily as a result of their "Join my team ..." posts being constantly bumped to the top of the team-forum. While that's fun, it makes competition very hard for teams who are NOT recruiting just 'anybody'; the only folks I would think it fair for our team to recruit from within WCG are actual homebrewers. Notwithstanding that, we are still going to try to give everyone a run for their money, and if we can just break into the top 100 someday, especially considering the huge headstart that the leaders have, then I will feel that we have succeeded enormously. Still, while I am disappointed in our team size, I am very happy with our team performance. Anyone who is interested can obviously check our exact stats on our team-page -- http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/team/viewMyTeam.do -- so just let me summarize by bragging that we moved into the top 20% in all categories in just 37 days, and I am very confident that virtually all of our members are new to grid computing. I have what I think is an excellent recruitment page here -- http://tinyurl.com/b7ofs -- and if I can ever get 'Google' to pick up my site on their search engine, then maybe I will have better success. Cheers. Bill Velek |

You see Bill
----------------------------------------In your initial post it was, you have to admit, a thinly veiled recruiting message and now you have absolutely broken another of the forum rules as this is now a blatant attempt at recruiting for your team with links to your teampage etc (btw you've got that wrong too.) Now I'm sure you will agree we could all do this and mayhem would be the result - that is why we have a team forum. If you posted a "Let's go get 'em" post in your own team thread then it would be bumped to the top of the pile like any other team Let's play fair now I'd claim you to be guilty of flagrant propaganda on behalf of your team ![]() In addition to the at least 7 counts against you on WCG forum etiquette Now why would it be that all those school kids use language like you have used today? Here's to happy crunching Sam [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 29, 2005 6:08:06 PM] |
