Hello,V.S.S.SARMA. Firstly,I want to say that Taiwanese are also Chinese,so we have the same customs. Then,we never eat these animals. Hi, gangyi. Since you are a high school English teacher, I thought that I might do you the courtesy of rephrasing your reply in a more customary manner. Rest assured that my response in sincere, respectful and playful. First, you should know that since Taiwanese are also Chinese, we share the same customs. No, we never eat these creatures. [But please tell me, are they tasty?] ![]() |

Hello Ims54,
Welcome to the grid. I live in the USA and my job is in marketing. We both work to make things sound better Do you think it is easier for an English-speaker to learn Korean or the other way 'round? I've been trying to learn Mandarin but I'm terrible at distinguishing sounds and inflections. SC (Fried Frog Leg Eater) |

Thank you for your revised. They are tasty.julied.Thank you very much.I am just a student, and my English is not good.so,maybe I didnot express my idea clearly,I am sorry and I will work hard. Please, gangyi, there is no need to apologize. I respect the fact that you post to this forum. There are 2 reasons for my post. First, out of respect for your efforts, I thought you might appreciate some feedback. In my poor attempts to learn Spanish, I find it most helpful when someone shows me a better way to express myself. It's easier to remember the lesson when it is your/my ideas. The second was to have some fun with a member who could possibly have been overstepping the "line." I threw the remark in as much to test his intentions as I did to provide you with some sense of how humor is used in America to flush out your opponent. No matter what, just keep on posting, gangyi. Most members are delighted that you don't let purely "cosmetic" language considerations interfere with you posting. Your English is more than adequate for the task. Besides, now you have to keep posting or else you will have the other members justifiably angry with me for what I did (despite my having the best of intentions). So, please reassure me that you do not feel slighted or upset with my post. (Or, if you do, that you are willing to tell me to go the Hxll and intend to keep on posting, regardless). Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. ![]() -- This post has been edited for profanity - nelsoc [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 2, 2006 7:17:59 PM] |

Welcome gangi, please continue to post. I know several people who are currently working in Korea teaching English. If more people on this planet took time and made the effort to learn more about each others culture and language what a better place it would be. Anyway it's good practice in case we all have to learn a language from an other world one day!

... The reason for my rarely posting is that I have no more time and my poor English ,so I have a litter worry about that my idea cannot be appreciated correctly. ... Hello again, my friend. I'm glad to see that you're still with us. Rule #1 when posting on the internet, buddy: No matter how hard you try; no matter how well you speak, your posts will eventually be misunderstood. The real barrier to successful communication on-line is not language, but ego. Just fire away, gangyi. You are bound to get a better response than most people do. ![]() |
