Please move/delete/ whatever this thread if I've missed where this has been asked before.
----------------------------------------When/are we likely to see the FA@H application ported to the BOINC client? I've had a scratch around but havn't seen where or if this has been asked before and I'm interested to know. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Hello Dark Angel,
The goal has been to get FightAIDS@Home boarded for BOINC in December. The last month has brought up many issues to be worked on. I do not know how much time they are taking up, or even how important they really are. For the moment, rather than promising December 'for sure', I am falling back on soon. mycrofth |

I apologize for the delay. We have two issues:
1. We've had several issues come up that required more time for us to resolve porting the FAAH code to run with BOINC. 2. The last two weeks of the year many of us need to use our vacation or we lose it. Our new target date is late January. We feel confident on this date, but as we get closer if anything changes I will post an update. |

Will there be enough hpf work to ensure that BOINC will still have work until FA@H is available?

yes.
Since we launched BOINC on 11/1 we have completed about 98% of our first batch and about 80% of a second batch. I just loaded a third batch this week and the first work units from that batch will start to be distributed this weekend of the start of next week. This third batch will provide us with enough work to get us into the start of next year. ISB has informed us that they have several more batches available (see the HPF forum for details) and that we will allocate 2-3 of those batches to BOINC to ensure that sufficient work exists to see us through until after FightAIDS@Home is launched. Is there going to be two versions, one for windows and one for linux. My younger brother wants to do FA@H but only has Linux and is using boinc for other works. So at the end of January hopefully will there be two versions?

Hello madmac,
Yes, once we have the updated version of FightAIDS@Home validated on UD Windows, we will be ready (finally) to quickly release it for BOINC Linux and then BOINC Windows. What we are leaving off is the BOINC screen saver. We have so much to do, it looks as though we won't be releasing a BOINC screen saver until the next BOINC project starts. (It is rumbling down the highway in the distance now.) Santa's helpers have a lot to do! Merry Christmas, mycrofth |

Thank you for all the replies. It's great to get honest and direct replies from the people doing the work that keeps us in work.

Any update on the progress of migrating FA@H to Windows BOINC? I'm chomping at the bit here. :)

Hello Borgholio,
I have not heard anything new on this so far. At the end of last year, the hope was to get it out toward the end of January. First update FAAH on Windows. Validate it. Then release the update on Linux. Finally, release the update on BOINC Windows. There is certainly some possibility of slippage. But let's hope that we stick to this demanding schedule. mycrofth |
