This question was asked several months ago. Viktor responded that its something that would like to be accomplished but was unable to implement with the current client. Has anything changed with the linux client?

The only change that I am aware of is that the system determines if you meet minimum requirements for the project before sending you a work unit. My second system is an old Pentium 3 and it does not meet the requirements for FAAH and is only sent HPF work units. I am using the UD Agent, but I believe the same holds true for BOINC.

I am a BOINC newbie, but there is a lot of discussion about homogenous validation (sending duplicate work units to similar CPUs) which would seem to require that BOINC have the capability to report processor type. But right now I feel certain that BOINC has many bells and whistles that we have not implemented yet. Still - - this MIGHT be coming sometime, if such a feature actually exists.

mycrofth,
You work too hard. This project has exceeded 130K+ members and the questions keep coming at an accelerated rate. Do you all have a plan to manage the oncoming tidal wave? I don't see how you all can manage this as it double, triples in size and further. I want to apologize for shouting the other day. It was very rude of me. Thank you for your answer again. Even a BOINC newbie answer! |
