My computer was off line for a few days. It was in the repair shop for some work. The tech who worked on it changed a bunch of settings and now I am not doing any World Community Grid calculations. The screen saver comes on, but only has the logo with "World community Grid" and nothing else is happening.
How can I get back on line. My registration seems ok, and all was working ok when I went off line a week ago. Two other things. The logo is not showing up in the lower right corner. The other is that my internet connection cable hooks to my computer via a PCMCIA NIC Adapter rather than through the regular slot at the back of the computer. This last item should not have any affect on this problem. All other aspects of my computer are working fine. Thanks to anyone who can help me get working again. |

One thing that might of happened is that the people in the repair shop have removed World Community Grid from your startup folder.
There are 2 solutions to this. First being the easiest solution to this problem and have the World Community Agent startup on login. That is to make sure that the agent is uninstalled. Then reinstall by downloading the application from the website. When the registration comes up, mark that you are already registered and insert your user information. This should fix the problem. Second being a little bit harder because it's a two part issue. You'll need to attempt to open C:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid\UD.exe or wherever you originally installed the agent. If this opens the agent and puts an icon in the bottom right, then respond to this post along with what operating system so we can assist on adding a link to that executable in your startup folder. Hope this helps. -Uplinger |

Thanks for your help. I reinstalled and have the logo in the lower right-hand tray again. I assume things will work as they should. If not I'll be back.

Your problem sounds like it might be one we have seen in the past that several new members have recently reported. I added it to the FAQ. Please see my posting here. |
