hi there, i was wondering where my two finished proteome folding projects could have been gone?!? i got no points, no runtime, no returned results, simply nothing .. they finished and disappeared without a trace .. two days of senselessly wasted runtime :/ everything else (fightaids@home project) works fine
kind regards |

I see this, so far for you, with the last result returned a day and a half ago.

I would suggest making a custom device profile with aids only checked. Change your device to use this new profile instead of the default. Do this soon before the next save/retrieve, or you could get another HPF. The default will change if another project comes along. That is a little unusual. Usually the HPF is an easier project to run here and only takes 128Mb of memory. FA@H runs longer and takes a 550MHz or faster computer. You might post some info about your computer and operating system in case others here have any ideas. [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 6, 2005 10:11:12 PM] |

hi there, first thank you for your replies,
my system is a standard pc with: AMD Athlon XP +2000 Processor (~1,7 GHz) 1 GB RAM ~1 GB free hard disk space 100 MBit/s LAN Internet Connection by default my computer got connected to the fightaids@home project, after some finished projects i wanted to know how the hpf project would look like, so i chose to participate in the hpf project by selecting it in the "my grid" options, later i switched back to fightaids@home (don't know if i got points for the hpf project, as far as i remember i wondered why the project finished so fast after switching back to the fightaids@home project), after some days and finished projects i looked at the statistics of both projects and decided to participate in the hpf project again, to help getting the project "results" count to over 20 million returned results, but then i noticed that the results were gone into nowhere, no points, no counted results, they just finished and disappeared, so i switched back to fightaids@home and the fightaids@home project just runs fine (since the very first result) Did they run more than two weeks of computer time? Were they downloaded more than three weeks ago? If so they could have timed out. they did run ~10 hours each, what took 1 day for each (because my computer runs very often, sometimes i just let it run to finish a project in the night, while i am sleeping), they had been downloaded and then they started to calculate immediately greetings |

Hello enforcA,
How do you get a breakdown by project in your statistics? All I see in my personal statistics are results, points, and computers (devices). Are you sure that your HPF results have not simply been added in with your FAAH results? mycrofth |

Are you sure that your HPF results have not simply been added in with your FAAH results? mycrofth hi, because i always look at the running project (by opening the wcg agent) and sometimes i log in to "my grid" .. so i can see what happened since my last result .. in the case of those 2 hpf projects there was nothing added, no points, no run time and so on .. the only idea i have is that the project finished at 90 to 99 %, so that it ended without 100% completion, but why - if this would be the reason - could this happen? why at the end when its nearly done? does it calculate something special at the end (from ~90 to 100%)? i read about the hpf2 project, i hope this project will work better on my system |

~1 GB free hard disk space This is the default in the device profile manager. If you've got the space, you can bump it up to 10Gb. The current projects don't need it, but you'll get more points....assuming that you DO get some points. ![]()

Just to make sure there is no hardware problem, you might want to run a memory and cpu check each overnight. You can find some useful tools for this here
