This situation will probably arise whenever a new project appears. I have set myself up a couple of custom profiles with the projects I want in them.
----------------------------------------WCG will modify the default each time to show all projects.

If "Participate in all projects" is deselected, what is the default for new projects? Are they opt-in, or opt-out?
Being the pedant that I am, I can't help noticing it is possible to deselect the "All projects" box while leaving all the child projects selected, even though selecting all the child projects automatically checks "Participate in all projects". Clear as mud? Thought so. |

It's all new to us too. The mu;tiple project code was inactive until a second project was started, so we have no practical experience in how it works.

Didactylos,
Since we've only got 2 projects right now, we opted everyone in to the new one by default. As mycrofth mentions, we didn't have a select project page until now since we only had one project to select from. For future projects, we wil opt-in members who are "participating in all projects." Members who have chosen only to participate in one particular project will remain contributing only to that project. While you can uncheck the particpate in all projects box, it should be noted that if you save your preferences, the box becomes checked again. Since we only have 2 projects, if you're participating in both of them, then you're obviously participating in all of them. When we add a third project, you will be able to select only 2 of the 3 and it won't be counted as participating in all projects. |

If "Participate in all projects" is deselected, what is the default for new projects? Are they opt-in, or opt-out? They are opt-in. However, I wouldn't depend on the default if you are running a custom project mix. Retsof: I have set myself up a couple of custom profiles with the projects I want in them. The default will likely change if a new project comes along. It could have everything (all 3?) (all 4?) checked again. Being the pedant that I am, I can't help noticing it is possible to deselect the "All projects" box while leaving all the child projects selected, even though selecting all the child projects automatically checks "Participate in all projects". Clear as mud? Thought so. That may have been a program feature that would make it easier to check everything if we were running 10 projects. It doesn't save much time with only 2, and wasn't needed at all with 1.[Edit 4 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 6, 2005 11:02:57 PM] |
