Question. How can 20 million results help to solve any research . If 1000 people worked on 1 result each per day it would take them 60 years to go thrue those results.

First, each work unit is sent out five times to make sure that at least one processed work unit gets back and also for comparison/validation purposes. Also, each work unit is just a small portion of one protein and many are combined to make up an entire protein, so the actual number is much smaller than 20,000,000.

It is wonderful to see all the results coming in in the short time I have been around. Can one of the moderators let us/me know what it means in English to those of us who could download and install the software. Does it mean a lot of researchers are getting anywhere? Is there a way to find out how they are doing so far? I am just a happy blond who is thrilled to be a part of these projects.

If 1000 people worked on 1 result each per day it would take them 60 years to go thrue those results. That's not the point. Each protein that can be ruled out, and ignored entirely represents months of work in the lab. Only the most promising proteins will be examined further. All this is in the FAQ, and explained on the individual project sites. |
