In the first 3 months of this year, we have had mixed results in the overall rankings:
----------------------------------------#11 in total run time (UP 1 placement) #14 in total results (SAME placement) #11 in total points (DOWN 1 placement) We have gained a few more members, but other teams are recruiting (or reproducing!) faster than we are! We are currently #37 in total members, (314 current members - DOWN six placements!) We had a short stay in the Top Ten for total points, so hopefully we can get back to it, although we probably need to get a few more new team members to make it happen. ![]() I have had some major computer network problems here , and hope to have my other two systems back before long. Sorry about that. We've been gunning for #10 for a while, now. If it's any consolation, MOT are slipping - you should be back in the top ten within a month or so. Sorry, MOT....
Currently we're crunching at #7, and you're crunching at #8. |

Well, bottom line is we are ALL crunching for Team WCG. That's what really matters!

You said it! Not that other DC projects aren't well intentioned, too.... but WCG's the best!

We had a short stay in the Top Ten for total points, so hopefully we can get back to it, although we probably need to get a few more new team members to make it happen. ![]() We will get it back (like Diddy said, we are currently crunching in 8th place), Keeping it or advancing in the long run is becoming harder and harder. We may currently be daily crunching in 8th place, but #6 is currently doubling our output. Any teams that step up the pace (like Team UF) or powerhouse teams that come from other projects (like Xtreme) will move (or even blast) by us. Unfortunately, our new members are not keeping up with the members that quit producing. ![]() Then again, only made it to 10th place because of J. His data center easily constitutes half of our daily output. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 4, 2007 5:33:28 PM] |

Then again, only made it to 10th place because of J. His data center easily constitutes half of our daily output. My toys are doing crunching away, but it takes everyone to help. Even if someone only turns in 1 result a day that is better than 0 results. About 5 weeks ago I went to a Rodeo with a friend, and a couple he knows. One of couple is HIV+ and has been very ill for a long time. It was a long evening for all of us, but it was longest for him. It is rare he can get out of the house. Everywhere we went, we paced ourselves around him. The walking, climbing a few stairs, and the general atmosphere was very difficult for him. We ended up leaving early, and as we were leaving, he fell and cut himself on the pavement. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt bad, but our group was a little agitated since he had cut himself. There are two things you don't yell in a crowd... 1 is "Fire!", the other is "HIV!". We had to make sure there was no possible contamination with any blood involved, which fortunately wasn't much. We were able to get him home safely, but that night reminded me of just how much we need to find a cure for HIV. I don't know how long I'll be able to keep my toys crunching. Later this year, several of them will be scrapped due to space and power constrains. Others may be needed for other more business oriented tasks... which is something I manage the best I can. Even if I have to scale back to just a single machine, I'll still keep on crunching. With HIV, Cancer, and the other current and future projects on WCG, there is one thing to remember: Lives can be saved. I firmly believe the work going on WCG means something. It doesn't take a datacenter or a lab full of servers to make a contribution. Every computer counts towards the goal. Ok... I'm stepping off the soapbox... - j |

Amen to that! And the third thing you don't yell in a crowd is "I'm gonna be sick!" |
