I am running three machines behind a firewalled router. All three machines have windows firewalls disabled.
----------------------------------------All machines have all service packs and updates applied. Two machines are running XP Pro and run the client without problems. The other machine runs Server 2003 and is a dual processor machine - this machine shows the client paused message. (On startup the UI does seem to connect and says it has received 23nn bytes before showing the paused message) I have set DEP to apply just to windows programs and services and also added the WCD server to my trusted sites list (as suggested in causes.html). I have also removed internet explorer exhanced security. (and rebooted after) Any ideas please. David Martin. |

Last time I saw this it was down to the MTU size on my ADSL router
----------------------------------------I had reduced it to 576 (as an experiment for another work related reason) Exact same issues all the XP machines on the router OK my 2 Windows 2003 boxes backing off and paused. Changing the MTU size back to 1420 (For ADSL) problem solved There must be some difference in the IP stack on the Win2K3 boxes that XP doesn't have Hope this helps Dave |

Thanks for the help - problem solved - I had restricted the project I donate to to the AIDS project - The problem machine has two Pentium 3 450's - so just below min.
----------------------------------------I created a new Device profile selecting the human-proteome project and assigned it and all started working fine. David. |
