Alsoo we have to remeMber that these projects are very nice an can help even find cures or medications, PROBLEM IS FARMACEUTICAL COMPANYS DONT WANT CURES,

Hello mariduru,
You are mistaking marketing for reality. True use-once cures are too cheap to support massive advertising budgets. You will never see massive one-page ads and advertising budgets > $100 million pushing any medicine that does not have to be repeatedly bought for years. But this is the Madison Avenue view of the world. In fact, such new cures are being produced every decade. But you have to search the journals to find mention of them. Newspapers can't sell good news. If you want to consider which diseases around the world are most in need of cures, you might look for Robert S. Desowitz in your local library. He is a Public Health specialist retired in NC who has written a number of fascinating books. Some of the world's worst diseases are scarcely mentioned in US papers. But trust me, AIDS is definitely well up in the Top 10 Public Menaces. mycrofth |

NO USEFUL PURPOSE IS SERVED BY BEING CYNICAL. JUST TRY AND HELP THE CAUSE. YES, AFTER AIDS IS CURED, SCIENTISTS WILL WORK ON MANY AREAS - AVIAN FLU, FLU, COMMON COLD, DIABETES, ETC.

I think you're wrong about pharmaceutical companies not wanting to cure diseases.
The most effective way of making viruses extinct is through vaccinations and whoever develops a vaccine for HIV will be selling a dose to just about everyone. At any rate, all science is good science, what is learnt from studying HIV and killing it, will have applications in other areas. |
