Re: WCG migration to a new environment finally complete

While that may be true, nobody knows in what state the system was that IBM left them. So it may not be so clear cut as that.

Re: WCG migration to a new environment finally complete

What we are dealing with is a small team of IT people trying their best to solve all these complex issues.

It is a educational facility project on a low budget, they have to solve it themselves and can't afford to hire a ton of people.

Latest news dumbed down by chatgpt

The problem causing the “Another scheduler instance is running for this host” error has been fixed. You should now be able to report completed tasks normally.

They’re still setting up the rest of the BOINC backend before creating new workunits.

The website briefly went down while restarting the scheduler, but they’ve updated their load balancer (HAProxy) settings to prevent that from happening again.

They’re still debugging a new Kafka-based validation system. This new system handles file uploads/downloads and validation much faster by processing data in batches instead of one by one through the database.

This new setup should make validation and assimilation happen together in one step and improve performance for their GPU-based MAM1 app.

Re: WCG migration to a new environment finally complete

It seems that my Boinc is trying to download some WUs, but after a bit, I can see these error messages in the log:

08/10/2025 15:17:07 | World Community Grid | Giving up on download of opn1_04_v01.png: permanent HTTP error

All the transfers are reported in permanent HTTP error.
I reported my logs in the hope that it could help technical people to debug and fix the remaining issues.

Re: WCG migration to a new environment finally complete

What a freaking mess this outrageous upgrade has done for my device list here at WCG.

* I have over 3 dozen different "new computers' all from my 2 Android devices that I had upgraded the BOINC software while the project was down.

Looking over my logs it appears they get s NEW Device ID each time they connect to the project..

Can't find the merge button/link on my Device management page nor anywhere else on the WCG website.

Nothing has happened for me yet. What could be the reason for this?

Well, plain and simple, there hasn't really happened anything for anyone.

Recently uploaded and then finally reported WUs are still not being processed server side, so no validation. And without validation of previous WUs, there won't be any new ones.

Beside that WCG is seemlingly trying to multitask again, and not only get the existing project (MCM) working by startiing above mentioned process, they seem to work at the same time to get ARP1 and the new MAM1 project started as well...

It is simply a waiting game... sad

same thing here: one of my PCs with which I tried to get tasks downloaded a few days ago now shows up about 15 times in my device list. Any idea how I can get this problem solved?
