More options for clients for more computational power

Hi,

I'm new to this community and I've read a bit about the issue with the windows client and the new AMD Dual Core processor.

I own a relatively powerful machine with an AMD x2 3800 so I have 2x 2000Mhz.

I looked at my task manager and I have seen that the client only use 50% of one of the processor. This surely is a software limitation since it's a flat 50% all the time.

My suggestion is, you could put something in the client to specify what %age of your processor the client can use. Also, you should really optimize the client for Dual Core processor since there is a whole processor (core) that doesnt do a thing... while the other is using only 50% of it's power.

Thanks for your amazing project

Re: More options for clients for more computational power

Steve --

The present software we are running has not been written to support dual core processors. Support may be provided by future applications. As for now, I think the only solution would be to use something such as VMWare with two instances of the operating system running. Several threads in the forum have discussed this. One of these can be found here.

Best regards,
