Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

ARP specific posts should be under ARP.

Generation 148 probably starts Friday morning GMT (UTC).

Unixchick

Request:

I have been hoping for some information on when the MAM Beta testing MIGHT be resumed. I realize that we both are pretty much equally in the dark. But, if you should happen to be able to determine that, could you add it to the first message?

Example: "Mapping Arthritis Markers (MAM) - Beta testing." - [add update/note here please - even if it is "see OFFICIAL STATUS UPDATE for details"]

... I know, I should be more patient. wink

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

great idea bfmorse. If I find any info on MAM, I'll put a note in the first post. I've been checking daily for any official update on any of the projects or the system in general.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Are they working on the system today??

I noticed this in my logfile

World Community Grid | Server can't open database
World Community Grid | Project requested delay of 3600 seconds

This is 20 minutes vs the usual 2 minutes.

edit to add -
Hans. thank you for the info on the out of sync "new" WUs. There was one of those in ARP too. interesting.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

RESULTS function seems to be locked as a result of the "Server can't open database" so I am unable to check any of my WU's to see if I have a match.

Hopefully this is a sign that work is progressing in the right direction to verify the system is more robust?

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

The database message has ceased but the feeder message remains.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I was trying to check up on Hans's "old" WUs, as I had also received some in that range -- because I collect parameter data on arriving tasks I was able to confirm that they were Ovarian tasks, but (like bfmorse) I couldn't get at the server-side data to find out when the WUs were generated.

The past tasks in the range under discussion ran for a period of about two weeks, from mid-April this year. I'll try to follow up further once server access is restored.

Cheers - Al.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Re current outage...

Approximate time-line (for my systems):

14:27 UTC: last successful work fetch
14:30 UTC: first "can't open database" message appears
16:32 UTC: last sighting of "can't open database"
16:53 UTC: first "feeder not running" message appears

Still stalled at 19:55 UTC...

Maybe the message change comes after an inbuilt timer runs out, rather than because of human intervention? It does usually seem to take a couple of hours to switch states when this has happened in the past.

This was error of the month in April this year and last month "another scheduler instance..." had the starring role -- different servers having problems at different times might suggest that either the hardware is getting too old or that some components would benefit from periodic controlled restarts, which brings us on to bfmorse's remark about robustness...

There hasn't been an update to the Operational Status page since the beginning of June, so with luck there might be some progress reported soon, and/or some information about the state of the data centre...

Cheers - Al.
