Any reason for short deadline despite longer running time?
----------------------------------------It's like MCM only runs for 2 hours workunit but have 7 day deadline, But this one runs for 3 days but 2 days deadline? I think the run length is related how I set my BOINC currently, (maybe I need to be more aggressive with BOINC since I don't aggressively use the computer as of now). But still. I think those that follow the requirements (1, 2, 6) might not realized of this wasted resources if they don't closely monitor the task. (and I says this with a 90 day badge. probably with with previous PC in which I was more aggressive with Boinc). ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by fablefox at May 1, 2025 2:10:16 PM] |

ARP1 should not be taking longer than the deadline. What CPU do you have? How many threads? How many ARP1 units are you crunching at a time? How much memory? Name of the unit?

I should have added that ARP1 deadlines are 6 days, 3 days or 1.5 days according to ctrcumstances. Not 2 days!

Maybe my math was incorrect because I was using elapsed time as to gauge starting time. Maybe I'm getting the 1.5 days one but elapsed is longer due to suspended/etc.
----------------------------------------But the point is I gauge remaining time and look at the Deadline. As of now only ARP has 2/5, other MCM all 8/5 and 9/5 (deadline). ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by fablefox at May 3, 2025 6:03:41 AM] |

Your specs should be fine. You only gave the first 3 segments of the name. The 4th segment would be a single digit which could tell us why you had a short deadline. Mike |

ARP1_0020584_143_2
----------------------------------------Just noticed that Name under properties does not include _2, unlike the column Name. Maybe it a bug that can be fixed (although I know it could be the main name, while name = name column + quorum? |

The full name of your copy is the unit name plus the copy number. ARP1 copies go out with a copy number of 0 & 1 initially with a 6-day deadline. When 1 or both of these are not returned by the deadline, or are given a status of error, new copies are sent out to others with a 3-day deadline (unless an error occurs in the first 3 days. So we get copy numbers 3,4,etc. As yours was copy number 2 it would probably have had a 3-day deadline. Please note that the _2 in the copy name relates to the copy number rather than the quorum number. The quorum number is the number of valid copies that must be returned for the unit to move on to the next generation. Mike |

why is it that ARP has a long running time and a short completion time ?? also, when my computer restarts, ARP losses about 4 hrs running time. MCM has short running times and long completion times.
