I've got 3 machines running on their own, individual profiles (work, school, home), and 'normally', I've got all three selected into the Beta program - although, knowing the issues we're currently seeing (WU's getting 'stuck' at 0.05% and not moving), along with me going away from home for a weeks holiday, I decided to 'pull' the two machines I've left running at home, out of the Beta program.
----------------------------------------Unfortunately, via the 1 machine I've got with me (and on which, I'm typing this note), I can see that my other 2 machines HAVE, since I left, \received Beta WU's - and currently, there's absolutely NOTHING I can do about them... Thus, if each machine ends up with 4 Beta WU's on each (they're 4 core machines), and they all get stuck at .05%, then they, along with the other MCM WU's on said machine(s), will just 'hang' until I return home.... I know resources are tight, but can this issue be added to the 'to fix' backlog please. ![]() |

The server should abort these when they don't meet the deadline, so I wouldn't worry about them running for weeks.

deadlines are being moved as needed for beta testing -
See Information in Operational Status section of April 26's notes: "https://www.cs.toronto.edu/~juris/jlab/wcg.html For those who continue to run these long running workunits, we will monitor those that remain outstanding and continue to extend deadlines. |

The server should abort these when they don't meet the deadline, so I wouldn't worry about them running for weeks. Oh, I'm not 'worried' over them - why 'worry' over something one cannot control... It's just something I've noticed that 'needs looking at', at some pioint 'in the future'.Thankfully, I can see that on my slowest machine, I've currently got two Beta MAM tasks allocated to it (as to whether they're running/stuck at 0.05% or galloping along), I can't tell - but there'll be 'at least' 2 threads processiing the other MCM tasks. As to my 'next slowest' machine, I can see that I've got 1 MAM Beta allocated to it (currently showing as a 'no reply' at the server end - thus, I'm guessing that it's running on my machine (aotherwise it'd have come back 'server aborted). Like my slowest machine, at least (at a minimum), there'll be 3 other threads available to process the MCM's I've got queueud up; So, as to whether any, all, or none are stil running by the time I return home, who knows... I'm certainly not going to spoil my holiday worrying about them.. ![]() |
