World Community Grid notified me that I have not been returning any projects for over a year, I typically just let BOINC do its thing, update when requested and not monitor any progress. So I was unaware that only 1 project Climate Prediction dot net is actually working. Neither of the other 2 projects are actively working and have not been working for over a year, Rosett@Home being the 3rd project.
Why is only 1 project running? How do I get the other 2 to work again? App says connected to local host 8.0.2 6 elements of Climate prediction are running with estimated day of completion being in 7 days and the project deadline 03-20-25 so it can easily complete the work before any deadline. Clicking update on each of the 2 non-running projects is all I tried so far with no change. |

Even though Climate prediction Net is a useful project it is not a WCG project.
----------------------------------------The only WCG projects ACTIVE at this time are: ARP1 (African Rainfall Project) and MCM1 (Marking Cancer Markers) Local host 8.0.2 refers to the software version of BOINC. Rosetta@home is also not a WCG project but is useful, handled through Bakerlab and can be sporadic. ETA: See Unixchick's Project Status (First Post Updated): https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,46880 for more details on active WCG projects. HyperLink connects to the current thread and Unixchick updates the first posting when appropriate and creates a new thread when the "current one" gets too big. So, look in the RECENT THREADS for the title "Project Status" for a quick look at what's active on WCG.org. Happy Crunching! [Edit 1 times, last edit by bfmorse at Jan 23, 2025 10:13:24 AM] |

OK, so you want tasks for WCG. Try this.
----------------------------------------In Boinc Manager click on the project tab and suspend all projects except WCG. Now click update while on the WCG line. Stuff should then come in. Then resume the other two again. From what I can see, Climate Prediction is 7 days elapsed and 7 days to go so Boinc must figure you have enough work on that machine and does not get more. That suspend I think is working, although got this message, nothing available for space:
World Community Grid: Notice from server Mapping Cancer Markers needs 500.00MB more disk space. You currently have 0.00 MB available and it needs 500.00 MB. 1/23/2025 10:05:02 PM So have to see why no space as used their settings.. |

I forgot to mention this. You may find that the other projects stop processing work after the suspend thingy. I experienced this with the other projects I used during the month of downtime. Milkyway seemed to monopolise the CPU.
Thire is a file named app_config.xml in each project directory which can contain the following: <app_config> <project_max_concurrent></project_max_concurrent> </app_config> Using your image as an example and presuming you experience what I did but still want Climate Prediction to do work, you could put a value in the project_max_concurrent like 1 less than the number of cores you have (or whatever). With more projects active you could play with the others in the same fashion. For WCG this file lives in C:\ProgramData\boinc\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org for Windows OR /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org for Linux |
