Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

I have been stuck on Mapping Cancer Markers for years, I'm sick of seeing the same thing over and over. Give me a variety or I will delete WCG form BOINC!

Re: Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

As you are probably aware, SCC1 and HST1 projects have completed their use of WCG resources. Unfortunately, that means that for now your options are restricted.

ARP1 has just restarted, but your system may not receive any of the current work if it isn't particularly fast -- the current tasks (as at the time I posted this) all seem to have 36-hour deadlines as some of the older generation tasks are cleared out.

There will be a new project in BETA soon, but it's another Mapping Markers project. I don't know whether that will meet with your approval or not :-)

Whether you choose to continue to contribute to the available projects is, of course, entirely up to you :-) -- happy crunching, whether here or elsewhere.

Cheers - Al.

Re: Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

WCG is having a database issue at the moment. Hopefully it will be fixed on Monday.

edit: MCM WUs are going out, now.

Re: Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

Things don't happen on a dime. I'm glad to see that they're going to roll out another project, as I was kind of bored with MCM as well, even though not to the extent of pulling the plug. I have moved my Raspberry Pi fleet to Asteroids@Home since WCG hasn't had anything for Linux/ARM64 in a long time.

As it was, HST never had enough work - I didn't even make it to one week of crunching. FAH2 was at its very end just as I joined WCG, so I only got a few WUs from that as well.

Re: Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts "sprocket" if you choose to stop crunching I am reasonably certain there will be people here that will process the work your devices are not processing.

Re: Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

Some people have said that the database issues are now fixed, but I have only received a single workunit this entire month.

I am new to the project, but am confused about why I am not receiving anything to crunch.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Thank you.

Re: Where are all the other World Community Tasks?

We have lots of ideas, because you didn't provide any information about your BOINC configuration, your Device Profiles, your Operating System and so on.

Where would you start looking if you don't receive any tasks? In your BOINC Manager might be a good idea. What does it tell you?

Restart your BOINC client, open the Event Log of the BOINC Manager and copy/post the first 50 lines of the Event Log here.

###

I double-checked that I have CPU computing enabled in both the local and web preferences, so I am baffled as to why I am not getting any tasks from the Mapping Cancer Markers project.

Thanks again for any input about how to figure this out!
