It seems like all day I cannot finish tasks. They run to completion, but messages do not go up.

It seems like all day I cannot finish tasks. They run to completion, but messages do not go up. Sat 03 Feb 2024 07:18:58 PM EST | World Community Grid | Reporting 15 completed tasks "Web site" and "BOINC servers" are two different things. The "Web site" (and thus the forum) is obviously working just fine, otherwise you wouldn't be able to post... What is currently stuffed up is that something on the BOINC servers is not working (hence error message in the logs of "feeder" not running) and thus you are not able to report the finished WUs and subsequently, you can't get any new work either. Unfortunately, with the sad state of affairs at WCG, there is only minimal chance that this will get fixed over the weekend, though this did happen once (in almost 2 years of WCG "under new management").. I am surprised that the thread you showed me is in the Mapping Cancer Markers Forum and not in the Forum: Website Support where we have posted this. No point having that thread moved over here though. I hope they fix it tomorrow because I cannot get any new work units until they acknowledge my Reports.

One way to view the WCG work unit situation is to:
----------------------------------------1. Open the web file https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/active_projects.py 2. Scroll to the bottom and view World Community Grid 3. View the number of tasks for subproject(s). I noticed that the number of tasks for Mapping Cancer Markers (MCM) decreased from about 90,000 last week on Feb 1 to about 900 currently. on Feb 5, 3 AM UTC time [Edit 1 times, last edit by Michael E.@ team Carl Sagan at Feb 5, 2024 3:36:59 AM] |

Nice info Michael.E to folloow the situation at WCG
----------------------------------------Let's hope an info from WCG itself by Tiger Lily and a restart of MCM as the only work left for us to crunch recently (that why the message of breakdown appears first) regards ![]() |

Lovely, all morning the web site and forum are going down and a while later come back up again. Right in time for the weekend, again...
At least so far, uploading and report, and thus new downloads seem to still be working... Ralf |
