Mentioned the never ending (non-)progress bars on the result page weeks ago, but it seems those posts were ignored and censored by WCG towers all this time. And communication from them has slowed down below a trickle...

I have found it helpful to put in a query which will return very few results such as "in progress" or "pending verification." The query I use for in progress iis

Experiment with different status numbers and device ID's to limit the scope of the query. Smaller results return pretty quickly. That default query runs for a long time. Cheers

I have found it helpful to put in a query which will return very few results such as "in progress" or "pending verification." The query I use for in progress iis Well, that doesn't help if you are trying to find out the number of valid results still accumulated, as that is what is causing the issue... https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contributi...XXX&serverStatusIds=4. If there is only a few in progress, this returns very quickly. Experiment with different status numbers and device ID's to limit the scope of the query. Smaller results return pretty quickly. My results do load but take a very long time. Possibly this is because they are now purging the oldest results affecting the bandwidth. Mike |

I might be completely uninformed on how the system works but would it make sense to remove access to "results" for users to provide enough/more bandwidth to purge and get work units flowing fully again? I, for one, would be completely fine with not have access to "results" for a period of time until purging is complete. I feel that the constant querying from users trying to see their results is an unneeded bandwidth "hog". Just an idea- no idea if it is actually possible.

I don't think it is a bandwidth problem, but a query problem. For the time being, they could set a hard limit to the queries by, for example, only giving the most recent results from the last two days. They could also make the default filter much more limiting by tweaking the available parameters. That should lessen the burden on the database server(s). Cheers
