[World Community Grid] Another scheduler instance is running for this host
IMO, the most significant symptom is the message above. This is happening to many accounts (see other threads) and seemed to start on early Dec 2 UTC. No downloads or uploads occur with this message. |

I don't hold out much hope before Monday afternoon.
Just wondering what will/will not happen for Christmas/New Year. Mike |

Honestly at this rate, it wouldn't surprise me if the WCG website and forums also went down this weekend. So see you guys in a few days! :P
----------------------------------------Hope they clear this backlog and also clear the assimilator/validator issue.

The "Another scheduler instance is running" message indicates a per-host lock file problem on the server, which may be a file-store issue...
Given the number of current issues I wonder if it might be a good idea for WCG to take the BOINC side of the site down for a day or two to see if the MCM1 assimilator problem can be cleared up if there's [far] less other BOINC activity going on . Doing so around the anticipated data centre work on December 6th might be a good time :-) Cheers - Al. |

Compared to some projects I've seen, WCG is still one of the better managed ones. IBM spoiled us (unintentionally) because WCG was used to showcase their technical capabilities. Outages resolved in less than a day are atypical. I agree with this. [Edit 1 times, last edit by as1981 at Dec 3, 2023 1:07:03 PM] |

WCG being WCG... I think that is more apropriate Krenbil being Krenbil... its a comoplete no supporting inrastructure and a completeb lack of confidence in all things that Krenbil do. Since the migration from IBM we are in bad hands to take care fo WCG. Just my opinion. Im tired to show a lot of issues and problemns without solution ever. Dont appear have organization, or something like that. All things appear running in empiric mode... ![]() |

I've only signed up for two BOINC projects so far: WCG and Rosetta@home (Baker Lab, University of Washington), but I've almost 100% given to WCG for almost 20 years. Just for my own curiosity, which projects are more poorly managed/unreliable? So I can avoid them in case I want to join more BOINC projects. The poorly managed ones typically don't last and tend to have lots of complaints in their forums or no activity at all in the forums. |
