----------------------------------------I am not having any problems with SCC since they stopped issuing C units. I have no problems with MCM. Mike [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mike.Gibson at Jul 6, 2023 3:56:13 PM] |

MCM won't give me units that will last more then 2 mins before resetting, while blocking out the queue.
But SCC chugging along nicely - still getting a fair few invalids, but the ratio is improving (and I think still doing so). |

MCM won't give me units that will last more then 2 mins before resetting, while blocking out the queue. I believe you're on some sort of Mac(s)? If so, there's a known issue with MCM1 tasks on some systems not getting out of set-up fast enough to avoid being knocked back by some sort of timer that assumes they've not set up properly. As that timer will be based on elapsed time rather than CPU time used, if you're regulating CPU temperature (or fan noise?) by reducing the "% of CPU time" it might cause that to happen... Just a thought, and if you already knew about that my apologies :-)But SCC chugging along nicely - still getting a fair few invalids, but the ratio is improving (and I think still doing so). Cheers - Al. |

Cheers - I'm not knowingly doing that, but will have a look (currently got a small batch pf Rosetta@home jobs turn up for the first time in ages, so I'll let them do their thing first (the MCM issue was happening before I re-attached to R@H))

This seems to have done the trick and I am now doing a bit of calibrating. Thanks v much. You're welcome :-)By the way, you may or may not be aware that some Mac users also experience an issue where tasks seem to stall later in their progress; this can, apparently, sometimes be fixed by suspending and resuming the task (possibly with "Leave non-GPU tasks in memory" turned off briefly!), sometimes by stopping and restarting BOINC, sometimes not at all... There's plenty about that elsewhere in this forum, some of it might even be helpful :-) Good luck - Al. P.S. Are you on Intel or Apple Silicon - if the latter, there might be other pitfalls unless/until they have the time to build some Apple Silicon specific applications... |
