I just installed Linux Mint 21 on a new computer, did all the updates, and downloaded the BOINC programs from the repository. All looks perfectly normal - like it has for all the many previous Linux Mint computers I've set up before. But when I click to start the program from the launcher, nothing happens.
I've tried reinstalling in terminal mode, with the Software Manager, and with the Synaptic Package Manager - all to no avail. What can I do to get BOINC to run as it should? |

Have you tried searching for your problem?
There is not much clue to be found in your cry for help. So an educated guess would be to search for "linux mint start boinc" and I found this: Boinc doesn't work after using Synaptic to install it under LM21 Then I tried "linux mint systemctl boinc" and this was the top result: <SOLVED> BOINC: Illegal Instruction / Invalid machine command This last link was interesting, as it pointed to: Unable to launch BOINC CLIENT/MANAGER since upgrade Questions: Have you tried using this command? systemctl status boinc-client.service Which version of Boinc did you install? Have you tried running boincmgr from a terminal? What happened? Have you added your user account to the boinc group? Adri |

Try running it with administrator privileges.
