Re: Defective Batch

Adri I know that the project scientists supply the batches.

Krembil could have pulled the defective batches until corrected by the science team rather than leave us to suffer with them for almost a month with no acknowledgement of the problem. The problem was pretty well defined. That the offending files could have easily been suspended I have no doubt.

I remember the previous WCG crew was always dealing with situations such as this, so I know what was possible.

Re: Defective Batch

I haven't gotten a "C" WU in a while. Do we thing they have pulled them? No word on if the issue is fixed.

Yes, they could have ... if they would have ... and they should have ...
They didn't do what we wanted them to do in the way we expected them to do.
So we had a problem not within our control. We could blame ourselves for running into this problem. Or we can easily put the blame on others/someone else, which will lead to several unhelpful emotions, such as resentment, anger, and hatred.

The blame game. Once you blame someone, do you then think they deserve to be treated poorly?

The only thing worse than someone who doesn't do their job is someone who defends them not doing their job. Who is treating Krembil poorly, and how?

+1

Well, beside that "Krembil" according to Dr.Jurisica isn't involved in all of this in the first place, "treating poorly" probably means you are criticizing WCG Towers AT ALL.

We are all to fall in line, put on our rose colored glasses and sing Kumbaya.
If you dare to point out their (mostly self inflicted) failures and short comings, it will just result in you being censored...

I was writing "Please tell how they are not doing their job in great detail. You are probably sitting next to them", but the only one who can judge if they are/aren't, is their boss.

I would like to say that we are not living in Utopia, in an ideal world.

Re: Defective Batch

From time to time I receive a group of resends which all end in error.
They take only a second or two, so not an issue for me.
I assume that the scientists are able to use this information to refine the research.

Sorry but no, they aren't.
The problem is that the info about these WUs has been botched in at least 4 batches, which resulted in those WUs immediately terminating, before any research can be done. It just resulted (it SEEMS it has been resolved, for now) in a waste of bandwidth on both ends to upload/download those WUs and in the hosts that have those defective WUs error out being deemed "unreliable" by the BOINC system which in turn creates problems in receiving WUs in the first place...
