I am getting WUs on my Linux machine. I'm not at home to hit "update" to see if my Windows machine also has work available. Simple solultion (that is, when you've got access to your Windows machine(s)), create a simple .bat file with the following two lines in it, then schedule a regular task up to run it on an hourly basis (or however frequent you want it). cd "C:\Program Files\BOINC" boinccmd --project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org update I've got mine set up on all three of my machines - and it works a treat [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Aug 8, 2023 4:13:49 PM] |

I am too finally. Guess they should have posted news. Have to clear the tasks my backup offered before any WCG runs.

Yupp, MCM and SCC flowing now, both Linux and Windows. Nothing on my ARMs yet and no OPN/G yet either. Hope they are getting on top of things.

Just before running out of WUs I've received a good consignment of MCMs and SCCs. Should keep me going for another 24 hours or so.

My queues have now been filled with both MCM and SCC.
----------------------------------------Just in case you need to cache some backup, Denis@Home has about 100,000 units available. Get 'em while they're hot. Cheers

Got plenty of SCC sometime in the last 14 hours or so. Got some this week from Denis as well, which is nice. And still have some from Milkyway, so I am no longer hurting to get WUs :)
----------------------------------------Edit: Oop, yep, ton of SCC coming in. Looking good on this end. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Seoulpowergrid at Aug 9, 2023 1:42:48 AM] |

Cheers If we are wanting work from "World Community Grid" why would we get work from another project you reference "Denis@Home" "While we can"? Doesn't make any sense to me |

Cheers If we are wanting work from "World Community Grid" why would we get work from another project you reference "Denis@Home" "While we can"? Doesn't make any sense to me I use Denis@Home as a backup project due to the unreliability of work units from WCG. Denis@Home is a biology project concerned with heart problems. If I have some work units cached from them, then my computers can still be doing some useful work in WCG's downtime. Once WCG is back to issuing units, I cut off Denis@Home. They do not always have work units available, so if you use this project as a backup project, it is nice to know when they do have work units available so the machines can continue to do some work while WCG is idle. I let BOINC do the work of managing the queues so nothing runs past deadlines. Cheers

I set up a backup project this weekend. It's the first time I've done that since I started distributed computing long ago. In the process, I've discovered a side benefit. If the backup project has GPU tasks available, then even when work is flowing from the primary project, I get GPU tasks from the backup, (if no GPU WUs are available from the primary). Wish I knew that a long time ago. It's a good way to maximize my workstation when it's idle.

@Sgt Joe
----------------------------------------Fair enough. 14,570 units retain for your backup project at the time of post |
