Re: SCC computation results (or validation process) for MacOS (Darwin) seems OS-rev dependent

The difference in Vaildation results for different macOS (Darwin) revisions persists for SCC and is not intermittent. It does not occur for MCM. The dividing OS revision remains 22.4.0.

If a workunit has 2 completed replications with OS rev <22.4.0
or 2 completed replications with OS rev >=22.4.0
then the workunit will be valid.

If a workunit has 1 completed replication with OS rev <22.4.0
and 1 completed replication with OS rev >=22.4.0
then another replication will be generated for the workunit.
This implies that the 2 different OS rev groups are producing different result files.
This does not occur for MCM or other projects, only SCC.

If the additional replication completes and is OS rev <22.4.0
then the replications with OS rev <22.4.0 will be VALID
and the replication with OS rev >=22.4.0 will be INVALID
If the additional replication completes and is OS rev >=22.4.0
then the replications with OS rev >=22.4.0 will be VALID
and the replication with OS rev <22.4.0 will be INVALID
This happens every time it occurs. The majority revision group prevails.

TigerLily: Please inform the SCC team of the issue. Thanks.

(edited 9/1/2023 to correct the boundary OS rev from 22.5.0 to 22.4.0)

Thank you so much Taurus Oldbull for continuing to bring this issue up. I think the researchers really should know, and acknowledge they know about this issue.

Hi Taurus Oldbull,

Thanks for this summary. I have forwarded this to a member of our tech team who is investigating the issue.

Is there any chance of an improvement?
